Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic

Expectations:

• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair all systems on Heavy Duty Trucks

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair brake and wheel systems and assemblies including shoes, ads, drums, bearings and hubs, turning rotors and drums, and rebuild wheel cylinders and air chambers, valves and master cylinders.

• Inspect electrical systems and locate problems in order to repair, adjust or replace lights, switches, starters, batteries, alternators, generators, voltage regulators and wiring; and inspect cooling systems to ensure proper working condition, locate any present or impending problems, and make repairs.

• Inspect hydraulic systems, replace lines and cylinders, and rebuild valves; inspect and adjust fuel systems, replace fuel pumps, replace lines and filters; and perform front-end work which includes alignment and installing ball joints and tie-rod ends.

• Perform overall preventive maintenance checks and make repairs and adjustments per DOT requirements.

• Perform complete tune-ups using the latest testing equipment to locate problems; emission and safety inspections , overhaul or replace rear-end assemblies; and repair or replace drive shafts and universal joints.

• Engine teardown, overhaul and rebuild on HD trucks.

• Performs road test checks on vehicles, as needed, following completion of the service and/or repair; adhere to safe work practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required; and maintain accurate manual and computerized logs and records of work performed and materials and equipment used.
